Typical size: 20-75 mm in length
Distribution: Orient
Intermediate host: multiple species of planorbid snails serve as suitable hosts. One sporocyst and two redial generations occur within the snails
Metacercariae: encystment on a variety of aquatic vegetation including water chestnuts, lotus, and bamboo.
Other: This parasite has sometimes been touted as a cause of most cancers. There is no scientific data published in reputable, peer-reviewed scientific journals to support this hypothesis. This parasite is confined to the Orient and does not occur naturally in North America.
