Mechanism of Action

Stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors in the arterioles of the conjunctiva and the nasal mucosa to produce vasoconstriction


Pharmacodynamics/Kinetics

Onset of action: Intranasal: Local vasoconstriction occurs within 5-10 minutes

Duration: 5-6 hours


Usual Dosage

Children 2-12 years: Instill 2-3 drops (0.05%) in each nostril every 8-10 hours

Children >12 years and Adults: Instill 2-3 drops or sprays (0.1%) in each nostril every 8-10 hours
