Catalyzes the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin


Usual Dosage

Use 1000-2000 units/mL of solution where bleeding is profuse; apply powder directly to the site of bleeding or on oozing surfaces; use 100 units/mL for bleeding from skin or mucosal surfaces


Administration

May be applied directly as a powder or as reconstituted solution; use sterile water or sodium chloride 0.9% to reconstituted powder to desired concentration; sponge surface free of blood prior to application, if possible
