Hypersensitivity to kaolin or pectin


Adverse Reactions

1% to 10%: Gastrointestinal: Constipation, fecal impaction


Drug Interactions

May decrease absorption of many drugs, including chloroquine, atenolol, metoprolol, propranolol, diflunisal, isoniazid, penicillamine, clindamycin, digoxin (give kaolin/pectin 2 hours before or 4 hours after medication)


Usual Dosage

Oral:

<6 years: Do not use

6-12 years: 30-60 mL after each loose stool

Adults: 60-120 mL after each loose stool
