| Nursing Implications |
|
Do not inject into a finger or toe; epinephrine should be available. Desensitization may need to be performed on patients with positive skin test reaction or history of sensitivity to equine serum; 1% of patients with negative skin test may still react when antivenin is administered; skin test should not be done in patients with mild reactions to the spider bite. |
